As many Gills fans, or supporter of any club, can imagine, I was rather pleased when it was recently confirmed I was set to feature in the current FourFourTwo Season Preview supplement.
I sent off my answers a few weeks ago, and must admit that I awoke this morning like a kid on Christmas morning.
Therefore, imagine the slight disappointment when I opened said supplement to find that of all the questions answered, only half a dozen or so had been picked for publication. On top of that, those answers had not all printed in full.
Hence me publishing all of them, in all their ‘glory’, on here.
Not to be self indulgent, but so that fellow fans can read the interview (and published answers) in full;
*Please note these questions were answered at the end of June*
Most underrated player at your club?
Aaron Morris without doubt. If he stays injury free he could be a huge player for us.
Azza – potentially key in 2015-16.
Keep an eye out this season for (which emerging player?)
Bradley Garmston. Decent during a loan spell last term, he has all the tools to excel now back with us permanently.
Best away fans in your division (not your own)?
Notts County brought down around 2,500 on the final day for a lunch time kick off, and were still singing despite being relegated.
Player you’d happily drive to another club?
Hmm, that’s tough one as all of the deadwood has been shipped out. If I have to pick I’ll say Josh Pritchard. He’s supposedly homesick and slightly injury prone.
Homesick Josh may be on his way out.
Best away ground to visit in your division?
Ashton Gate was developing into a top stadium last term. Looking forward to Millwall & Southend as they’re the closest to a local game in a Northern dominated division.
One change you’d make at your club?
I would love some type of safe standing area. The days of jumping around in the battered old Rainham End were wonderful.
A safe standing area would be bloody marvellous.
Best club-related Twitter recommendation (a player/blog/celeb fan who always informs/entertains)?
Local journalist Luke Cawdell (@KentOnlineGills) is very informative and tries to interact as much as possible.
Best away ground grub?
Bristol City’s was decent enough. It was edible, which is better than plenty.
Opposition player in your division you secretly admire?
He’s just dropped into League 2 and we’re meant to hate him, but Izale McLeod always seems to score goals wherever he goes at this level.
McLeod – hardly loved by the Gills faithful, but he scores goals.
The pantomime villain in your division is?
Rochdale gaffer Keith Hill hilariously claimed he thought about trying to get our game abandoned after seeing two of his players dismissed. Sore loser.
Where will you finish this season and why?
The gaffer seems to be buying well, so the top 8-10 would represent further progress. But with a good start, who knows?
Date for the diary (key fixture, most anticipated fixture etc, or maybe some other key date for your club in the season ahead, such as an anniversary etc)?
We play our dear ‘friends’ Millwall and Swindon within a week of each other over Christmas.
Club-specific question: There’s continued talk of you moving to a new stadium. Do you support such a move?
If it increases revenue and helps the club move forward, of course. But the essence of the club has to remain intact.
When did you first watch your team?
1996, from the top of the old Gordon Road dug outs. Lost a horrible game 1-0.
Are you a season ticket holder? For how long?
Yes. I originally was for five years from 1997-2002, and have renewed again this season.
How many games did you see last season?
Nearly 30, including reserve games, away days and regional trophy fixtures.
